When people work across cultures, countries and time zones, assumptions about communication, decisions and responsibility can slow everything down. This course helps leaders and teams develop the practical cultural intelligence needed to work with more clarity and less friction.

Participants leave with a practical model of what trust and psychological safety are built on and how to build both without relying on physical presence. They also leave with a sharper understanding of how to operate across cultural differences in day-to-day work.

Live online meet-up, 45-minute 1:1 coaching and a certificate of participation from The Nordic Learning Company.
We can run Leading Global Teams privately for your organisation, using the cross-cultural situations your teams actually meet.
Tell us who the course is for, roughly how many people, and what you would like to be different afterwards. We will come back with a proposal.
Short inputs are followed quickly by structured practice: experiencing practical tools for building trust and psychological safety, mapping your unwritten rules through cases, and exploring differences in cultural expectations to build shared understanding.
Facilitated input, cultural-profile reflection, applied scenarios, peer discussion and structured reflection on real international working situations.
The course draws primarily on Erin Meyer's cross-cultural management research, particularly her framework for understanding how communication, feedback, persuasion, decision-making, and trust vary across cultures, used here as a lens for reflection rather than a set of national stereotypes to apply mechanically. It also draws on research into virtual and distributed team dynamics, including how trust forms differently at a distance and how to establish Amy Edmondson's model of psychological safety in global teams.

Staff were moved into an activity-based office paired with working from home. Managers say it made them more trusting, more visible, and more relational leaders, and quietly heavier on their own workloads.

A review of 40 Nordic studies confirms leadership matters for employee wellbeing, but rarely as a straight line. Where researchers tested how the link actually works, it almost always ran through something else: whether people find their work meaningful, whether their role is clear, and whether they feel supported.

A major review of two decades of Nordic workplace research confirms most of what builds job satisfaction and engagement is exactly what you'd expect. One finding stands out because it isn't: giving people more control over their work doesn't help everyone equally, and for some it can make things worse.
